Ecological transport for your vacation

If you are planning a trip and want to get there in the most environmentally friendly way, there are ways to do it. And once you reach your destination, you can ensure that every trip you make is environmentally friendly. You just need to do a little planning in advance to find the most environmentally friendly travel options.

Ecological transport

1. Get there

Airplanes, trains and cars … Airplanes are the worst of them, but if you fly to an airline that has taken steps to reduce its carbon footprint by eliminating excess waste and recycling as much as possible, it will be better. Southwest is an airline you may want to consider that has done a lot to reduce their carbon footprint.

As for the trains, it’s really not a bad way to travel and it’s not terrible for the environment. Plus it’s a very scenic way to travel. If you are traveling and driving, then consider renting a hybrid vehicle if you do not have one.

2. Hotels

Look for hotels that use green programs. Also check the location of the hotel and make sure there is public transport nearby that you can use to get to where you need to go. Once at your hotel, let them know that you do not need new towels every day. Turn off the lights when you leave the room and turn the thermostat up or down when you are not in the room to use less electricity.

3. Travel when you are there

Although you have checked your hotel to see that there is public transport, consider finding other ways to travel. Can you go to many places instead of having to be driven there? How about renting a bike for the week and cycling instead? Finding alternative ways to get to destinations and then make the most of nature will really help you maintain your environmentally friendly transport while on vacation.

4. Leave it cleaner than when you go there

Although it is not about transportation, it is always just a good practice to pick up trash when you see it. This can help you balance your carbon footprint if you have trouble finding the most environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

Support local eco-friendly efforts by making donations or even volunteering for a while while you are there. Also shop at local farms while you’re there, instead of at the grocery store. You will try the local production. You may need to be careful what you do if you are out of the country. Consult your hotel to see what local manufacturing stores you can go to; they must be able to point you in the right direction.

Staying a stay is also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint by exploring things right in your own area and being in nature. Travel definitely has an impact on the environment, but if you decide to leave, you can still reduce your carbon footprint when you travel.
